What happens when we bring mindfulness meditation into our schools?
Our Guest:
Laura Bakosh is the co-founder of Inner Explorer, a non-profit organization that is bringing daily mindfulness practices to over 100,000 students and teachers in schools around the country — from pre-K all the way through 12th grade.
Inner Explorer’s programs uses Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction research and tools to reduce student stress, help strengthen self-regulation skills, and improve academic performance. 10 mindful minutes in school helps kids focus, reduces behavioral issues, and gives teachers more time to engage and inspire students.
Laura discovered the benefits of mindful awareness more than 20 years ago when she was trying to manage the stress of travel and long workdays. While working at GE, Laura had the insight to share her mindful awareness practice with hundreds of fellow employees. Upon seeing the many positive results the daily practice had on performance, creativity, and wellbeing, she realized it would be the perfect fit for education.
